Plumbing

Multi-lender plumbing financing for contractors.

When a water heater fails or a sewer line collapses, one lender’s no shouldn’t send the homeowner to a patch or another plumber. One branded Ottri application reaches participating lenders one at a time, at no cost to you.

One application. Eligible lenders, considered in sequence.

Ottri is a financing platform for plumbing companies: one branded application for water heaters, sewer lines and repipes, which participating lenders consider in turn. Ottri Global LLC is a licensed loan broker (NMLS 2776988), not a lender.

Plumbing promotions usually cost the plumber. Ottri costs you nothing.

Can plumbers offer water heater financing on the service call?

Yes, if a lender approves it. The homeowner applies on their own phone during the visit, and a decline moves the same application to the next eligible lender. A like-for-like tank runs about $1,200 to $2,500. Programs on the Ottri network start at $1,000, but minimums vary by lender, so a basic tank swap fits fewer programs than tankless.

  • Tank water heaters typically last about 8 to 12 years.
  • There’s no federal tax credit for water heaters installed in 2026.
  • Funding follows each program’s conditions, often after the job is complete.

What do a sewer line replacement and a repipe cost in 2026?

It depends on the method and the footage. Digging runs about $50 to $200 a foot and trenchless $60 to $250, so a 60-foot line is $3,000 to $15,000 before restoration, the camera and the permit. Replumbing a whole house runs about $2 to $6 a square foot, roughly $4,000 to $12,000 for 2,000 square feet.

  • Copper producer prices rose 30% in a year; plastic pipe and fittings, 4.5%.
  • Single sewer averages hide the per-foot math; quote the real footage.
  • Check insurance and any city sewer-lateral program first; finance the rest.

Homeowner confirms the job is complete

When does a plumber get paid on a financed job?

Usually after the job is done and the homeowner confirms it. Most programs on the Ottri network pay your business at completion; some pay at signing. When the 3-day right to cancel applies, as on a heater sold on a repair call, funding may wait until it ends. Jobs that need a permit may need the inspection first.

  • Beyond the down payment, California bars collecting ahead of the work, even from a lender.
  • An emergency waiver of the 3 days must be dated and in the homeowner’s handwriting.
  • The dashboard shows each job’s next funding step.

Who pays depends on the utility

Who pays to replace a lead service line?

It depends on the water utility. The 2024 federal rule requires lead lines to be replaced within 10 years of its November 1, 2027 compliance date, but it doesn’t say who pays for the homeowner’s side. Some cities cover it; others don’t. If the homeowner replaces their side, the utility must replace its part, usually within 45 days.

  • EPA puts a full lead line replacement at about $6,500 to $8,500 (2021 data).
  • Point homeowners to their utility’s service line inventory first.
  • Describe the rule plainly; don’t sell on fear.

Plumbing financing questions, answered.

How do plumbers offer financing to customers?

Plumbers offer financing on the service call or with the estimate. With Ottri, your tech texts the homeowner one application under your company’s name; participating lenders take it in order, and on eligible programs the lender deposits the funds with you. There’s no Ottri fee. Owners spent about $5.9 billion on water heaters in 2023.

Does the 3-day right to cancel apply to a water heater sold on a repair call?

Usually yes. A new heater sold at the home for $25 or more carries the right even when the visit began as a repair call, so the homeowner can cancel until midnight of the third business day. The exception is a genuine emergency they called you about, waived in a dated statement in their own handwriting. California gives buyers 65 and up 5 business days.

Is there a federal tax credit for a water heater in 2026?

No. The federal credit (25C) ended for water heaters installed after December 31, 2025. Income-limited rebates of up to $1,750 for heat pump water heaters have launched in 13 states and DC; in existing homes they now cover only electric-to-electric upgrades. Some utilities add their own. Pages still promising a federal credit are out of date.

Are tankless water heaters being banned?

No. Congress struck down the gas tankless rule in May 2025. Most full-size electric tank heaters made from May 2029 must use heat pump technology, while small electric tanks stay available and older stock can still be installed. Explain the rule without using it to pressure a sale.

Can our techs show monthly payments in the price book?

Yes, if every term goes with it: the APR, the down payment and the repayment terms, marked as an example. A price book, flyer or ad that shows a monthly figure by itself can trigger federal disclosure rules; a written estimate for one homeowner doesn’t. Quote the same price whether the homeowner pays cash or finances.

What happens if the first lender declines?

The application goes to the next eligible lender without the homeowner starting over, and that lender decides for itself. When nobody approves the whole amount, the homeowner can cover part another way, or you can quote the repair now and the replacement later.

Can one application finance a sewer line replacement and the yard restoration?

Yes, if it’s all in one contract and within the lender’s limits. Put the line, restoration, camera inspection and permit in one estimate, and the homeowner applies for that amount; each lender confirms it against your scope. If the camera finds more, send a revised estimate before work starts; the lender decides on the new amount.

What do I need to sign up?

Sign up online with your EIN and business details, your plumbing license and insurance certificate, the owner’s ID, a sample customer contract and your deposit account. Joining has no minimum, and each lender reviews your business on its own, with requirements such as time in business.

Who approves the financing and sends the funds?

Every participating lender makes its own credit decision and sets the terms, and on eligible programs the lender pays your company directly. Ottri Global LLC is a licensed loan broker, NMLS 2776988, and is not a lender.

Can we keep the financing we already offer?

Yes. Keep the lender or program you use now, including financing built into your field software, for the jobs it fits. Your tech sends the Ottri application separately, by text or QR code, when a homeowner is declined or the job is bigger than that program covers. Some programs require their lender to see an application first, so check your terms.
