One application. Eligible lenders, considered in sequence.

Ottri is a customer financing platform for residential paving contractors: one branded application for removal, base, grading and paving, which participating lenders consider in turn. It finances the homeowner’s driveway, not your equipment. Ottri Global LLC is a licensed loan broker (NMLS 2776988), not a lender.

Driveway promotions can cost the contractor. Ottri costs you nothing.

Lender promotions often come with a fee paid from the job’s margin. Here’s one published schedule, beside Ottri.

−$700

A 12-month promo

On an $8,800 tear-out and repave, one national lender’s 2019 schedule charged pavers a 7.99% dealer fee on 12 months of same-as-cash, about $700, and 13% on 24 months, about $1,140.

$1,500+

A yearly platform fee

Subscription platforms bill $1,500 to $6,000 a year, paving season or plant shutdown.

Ottri never charges you

How does a legitimate paver sell a driveway without looking like a scam crew?

In writing, with time. Agencies describe the scam the same way: an unannounced crew, leftover asphalt, a same-day start and payment on the spot. Give an itemized estimate, the cancellation notice in writing and out loud, no crew until the window closes, payment at completion, and financing the homeowner applies for on their own phone.

  • Beyond the down payment, California bars collecting ahead of the work, even from a lender.

What does an asphalt driveway cost in 2026?

It depends on the scope. Guides put new asphalt at $5 to $12 or more per square foot and an overlay at $1 to $3, and tearing out the old surface adds $1 to $4. That puts a 24×36-foot tear-out and repave at roughly $5,000 to $14,000. Fixr’s often-quoted $6,960 average is for a concrete driveway.

  • Sealcoating and crack filling usually fall below the $1,000 program floor.
  • Paving mix producer prices rose 7.7% in the year to September 2026; date every quote.
  • Itemize removal, base depth, grading, the apron and permits on one estimate.

Laid above 50°F

How late in the year can we pave, and what needs a permit?

Until the surface cools and the plants close. Model specs want 50°F or warmer for lifts under 2 inches, and many plants shut from mid-December into March. Repaving the same footprint often needs no building permit, but state-road entrances need right-of-way permits, some cities inspect resurfacing, and long rural driveways can carry fire-access rules.

  • Pennsylvania: $15 plus a $10 inspection for a home driveway onto a state road.
  • In California fire zones, driveways over 150 feet need a turnout; past 300, a turnaround.
  • Coal-tar sealer is banned on driveways in five states and DC; name the sealer you use.

Terms open on the homeowner’s phone, not in the driveway.

When does the lender pay on a paving job?

Usually after the work is done. On eligible programs the lender pays your company directly; most programs pay after the homeowner confirms completion, and some pay at signing. Define complete as paved, rolled and cleaned up, not the sealcoat visit weeks or months later, and keep any deposit within your state’s limit.

  • Maryland caps deposits at a third; in Florida, over 10% starts permit and work deadlines.
  • Hot mix is bought the day you pave, so there’s little to justify a large deposit.
  • Base problems found mid-job need a signed change order before the extra work.

Asphalt paving financing questions, answered.

A paving estimator with a measuring wheel shows a homeowner couple their financing options on a tablet beside their old, cracked asphalt driveway.

How can paving contractors offer customer financing?

Put it on the written estimate as one more way to pay, beside check, card and any financing you already offer. It’s credit for the homeowner, not an equipment loan: they apply under your company’s name on their own phone after you leave, participating lenders weigh it one by one, and an eligible lender program pays you. There’s no setup fee or subscription.

Can removal, base, drainage, the apron and paving go on one application?

Yes, if it’s one job on one contract within each program’s limits. List removal, base depth, grading, the apron and any permit separately. If you find soft base mid-job, sign a change order and check with the lender before doing the extra work.

Can sealcoating or crack filling be financed?

Usually not on its own. Sealing a 24×24 two-car driveway runs about $580 to $1,200 and crack filling less, so most jobs fall under the $1,000 where network programs start. Card or check fits better; pair sealing with a resurface or replacement only when the homeowner needs both.

Does the 3-day cancellation right apply if the homeowner called us?

Yes. The FTC rule covers sales of $25 or more made at the home, including visits the homeowner asked for, and its repair exception is for personal property, not a driveway. California gives buyers 65 and older 5 business days. Don’t send the crew until the window closes.

How do we show homeowners we’re not a “leftover asphalt” crew?

Put in writing what the warnings say crews leave out: your license number where your state issues one, your business address, the total price, not just a rate per square foot, compacted thickness and base depth, start and finish dates, payment terms and the warranty. Wisconsin bars false leftover-materials discounts.

Where is coal-tar driveway sealer banned?

Washington, Minnesota, Maine, New York, Maryland and DC bar it on driveways, and Virginia bans the sale of high-PAH sealers. Many counties have their own rules, and DC’s definition reaches some asphalt-based products too. Check state and local rules and name the sealer on the estimate.

What happens if the first lender declines a driveway?

Nothing is retyped: the application moves to the next eligible lender, and before each lender’s step the screen says whether that credit check is soft or hard. Approvals can come in lower; where the base is sound, an overlay may fit instead of a tear-out. If none approves, the homeowner can pay another way.

What does a paving company need to sign up?

Open the account online, then add your EIN, company details, any contractor license your state requires, an insurance certificate, a sample paving contract, the owner’s ID and the deposit account. Ottri reviews each company before it goes live, and each lender applies its own standards, such as time in business.

Who approves the financing and pays for the driveway?

Each participating lender makes its own call and sets the terms. On eligible programs it pays your company directly, most often after the homeowner confirms the driveway is done and in some programs at signing. Ottri Global LLC is a licensed loan broker, NMLS 2776988, and is not a lender.

Will an approval made in October last until spring?

Not necessarily. Offers expire on each lender’s schedule, and paving waits on surface temperature and plant dates, so date the quote, tell the homeowner the likely paving window, and confirm the offer is still open before you schedule the crew.
